Developed by licensed therapist Gail Sabo, who brings two decades of expertise in aiding abused children within the Florida foster care system, this app addresses a critical gap in the traditional approaches used for gathering information from young victims. Often, children who have faced trauma lack the vocabulary to describe their experiences adequately. While life-size anatomically correct dolls have been employed for this purpose, they present considerable practical challenges—such as high costs and differences in appearance compared to the child—which can further hinder communication. Moreover, boys may be particularly reluctant to engage with standard dolls.

The Anatomical Dolls app innovatively reduces both the financial barriers and the stigma associated with traditional doll usage. Users can create a customized doll that aligns closely with the child's skin tone and physical features, fostering a more comfortable environment for expression. Feedback indicates that children show a higher willingness to engage with this application than with conventional dolls.

The app's functionality allows users to select gender, age, hair color, and skin color by tapping colored tabs sequentially. Clothing items can also be matched to the child's attire during the incident by dragging from designated clothing tabs. Once the doll creation is complete, users can capture front- and rear-facing images of the doll by accessing the camera feature. The child can then indicate areas on the doll where contact was made by tapping on the screen, resulting in highlighted rectangles indicating these points of contact.
